Jai Sai Master!
For the post, I will write this one leela and it should answer the question.
One Surinarayana, Vidyanagar, told me this experience.
He was a student of Master. He didnt believe in Baba, but heard that Master is a good soul and that you can take money from Him for free ( Master used to put all the money in an open can infront of Baba. Any one can take any amount. No questions asked. ). So he used to come to Master's room. But Master used to tell every one about Baba, and SuriNarayana wanted to see if all that was correct. Infact he wanted to prove Master wrong that those things dont happen in days like now. So one day he asked Master "Sir, you said Baba will feed any one doing parayana. Can you prove it?" Master said " Sure, but you have to do as I say and if I win, you have to do what I say for 40 days.. If you win, I will do what you say for 40 days and I will throw this Baba photo out.. Agreed?" He said "Sure."
Then Master scribbled a letter and asked Surinarayana to go to Shirdi and for 11 days and take that letter to Sri Sivaneshan Swamy. Surinarayana, as told by Master went to Shirdi with the money he took from Master (He was very poor. There were days when he couldnt even eat while he was a student.) He gave the letter to Sri Shivaneshan Swamy. Swamy asked him to surrender all his belongings.. his bag, wallet, watch, any money.. everything except the cloths he was wearing and Sai Leelamritam. Then He told Surinarayana to keep doing parayana where ever he wants, but not to ask any one for anything.
Surinarayana went and took darshan of Baba and sat in Lendhi Bagh and started doing parayana. The first day, afternoon around lunch time, Surinarayana went to Shivaneshan swamy, but Swamy told him to go back and continue parayana. He was doing parayana when suddenly a devotee came to him and placed a whole plateful of curdrice. He ate it. He thought if it would happen at night. That night another devotee gave him food without asking. Like that three days passed when he changed places from lendhi to other remote places in Shirdi, hoping to miss food. He thought people would give food if he sits in Lendhi.. so he went all around Shirdi finding remote spots and doing parayana. Still he got food. Then he thought, "If I sit in Shirdi, obviously people think that I am a devotee and offer food". And he walked all the way to Neem gaun (Three KM from Shirdi) and sat on the benches under a tree and kept doing parayana. Miraculously, that day, a school bus came there and as they were having a field trip, they brought food which they offered him. At night, he thought the school bus would leave and that no one would offer him food and he would win. So he stayed in neem gaun. At about 7 in the evening, a fruits wender set up his cart near him and as a start, gave him two big mangoes for free saying that it is his sentiment to give free fruit before he started sale.
Next day, he thought he would go into a place where there will be no one and wanted to see how he gets food. He went off into the fields ourside Shirdi and started doing parayana sitting under a tree. Then one of the farmers saw him there and thinking that he is a saint doing tapasya, he brought him basket full of meals and offered him bowing down to him. That night also he offered him. Surinarayana couldnt escape food. He even tried going to the bank of Godavari, about 9 KM from shirdi and started doing parayana away from any fields and roads and deep in the shrubs where people dont roam. To his utter annoyance, a ship full of people came to offer "Pindam" to their ancestors, seeing him they invited him to eat with them reverantly. He ate. Then saying that its dangerous to stay there at night, they forcibly took him back to their village kopargaun and gave him food and place to sleep in the night.
Next morning also they gave him food and packed him food to take back to shirdi seeing that he didnt have any money. On the way back to shirdi, he gave that food off to a bhikshu, just to see what Baba would do. And after going to shirdi, he sat in the outskirts behind a tree where no one could see him and started to do parayana. Unfortunately for him (or fortunately) a sadhu meditates behind those trees every day and he came at lunch with a bagful of rotis that he got through bhiksha. Seeing this guy doing parayana there, he offered him food and asked him to read him that book loud and tell him in english. Surinarayana did that for three days and all three days, sadhu gave him food.
Like that, the rest of the 11 days went by while Baba fed surinarayana sumptuously everyday. After 11 days were finished, shivaneshan swamy gave him all his money and asked him to return to vidyanagar. Then Surinarayana thought "Master only said 11 days.. So did Baba feed me or is it Master trying to win?" Thinking so, he put one final test to Baba. He put all his belongings other than needed for the journey costs in the hundi in a Baba temple in Manmad. He boarded the train and started doing parayana. On the way back, he met one of Master's old friends who were returning from shirdi. So after initial talks, they came to know that he is a student of Master and that he had no money, the fed him until they reached Renugunta. They parted for tirupati and he started for vidyanagar. Still, he has to travel till 3 o clock to reach vidyanagar and at lunch time, he was again alone in a bus. He thought, now no one would feed me. He was the only passenger in the bus. Again, through Baba's grace, the conductor of the bus started a conversation with him about Baba and listening to leelamritam. So, as lunchtime came, he shared his carriage of food with surinarayana.
Surinarayana went to vidyanagar and went to Master's room and sat. Master was writing something, so he sat there silently. As soon as he sat, before he said anything, Master said.. "Baba will feed you even in a bus near vidyanagar if you keep doing parayana.. Now do you understand that ?" Surinarayana was surprised at Master's omniscience and accepted his defeat. As promised earlier, since Master won, he had to do 40 days of what ever Master says. Master asked him to stay in the unconstructed vidyanagar temple and not to see any one or talk to any one and not to come out of there for 40 days and to do parayana and meditation there. Surinarayana did that and all along, Master used to send him enough food for meditation.. like one banana in the morning and evening along with milk.
He finished 40 days and had a darshan of Baba.
I think this answers the question. Apart from this, Master's house is a prime example of this. Many days, we didnt have even a single rupee, but we never went hungry without food.
What a wonderful leela to write as your 400th post! This is my 400th post on this forum. I hope all of them were useful to someone one way or the other.
Jai Sai Master!
